Eight days of happy, day four!


Day Four: Fanfic

I cannot quite believe this, but it was actually easier for me to find eight lots of eight pieces of fanfic -- themed, no less, not just the first sixty-four that came to mind, but the first sixty-four that came to mind and fit the tropes -- than to limit myself to just eight pieces. (Please note I wrote the previous sentence before I started coding this entry up. GAH. Tomorrow you're getting something with no HTML at all.)

I should disclaim and disclaim and disclaim that I have missed out any number of gems here; please take this only as a celebration of a tiny glimmer of the vast shiny that's out there.

-- The Sacred and The Profane by bravecows (Good Omens, Zirah/Caphriel) -- I cannot tell you how much pleasure I get every time I rec this. It is still to me one of the finest examples of fanfiction I know, written as it is with such love and talent.
-- Teamwork by Magus Minor and Methaya (SGA, McKay/Sheppard) -- The one where McKay's a Mountie. What more do you need?

-- With Six You Get Eggroll by cesperanza (Due South, Fraser/RayK, Stella/RayV) -- Hating this story would be like kicking a puppy. A really cute puppy. Who tells amazing stories, and also knows how to ride a snowmobile...
-- Snowed In by cesperanza (SGA/Due South) -- ...which would come in pretty useful here, I guess.
-- Reconcilable Differences by astolat (Smallville, Clark/Lex) -- Clark and Lex are stubborn, devious creatures. If anyone's going to out-stubborn and out-devious them, it's going to be their kid.

-- I Have Been All Things Unholy by bexless (Bandom) -- This is gorgeous, lush, rich horror, full of really hot emotional and sexual tension. If I hadn't made it a rule I wasn't going to reread these stories before posting, this would be the first I'd reread.
-- The Truth Is A Whisper by seperis (Merlin, Merlin/Arthur) -- In which Arthur kills everyone he sleeps with. Or something like that.
-- Lost In Waiting by laceymcbain (SGA, McKay/Sheppard) -- Oh, but I totally would believe Sheppard kills everyone he sleeps with.

-- But Is It Art? 8 moments of meta

-- The Maiden Voyage of the Tiresias by astolat (Sherlock Holmes, Holmes/Watson) -- This story is slash to me.
-- Take Clothes Off As Directed by helenish (SGA, McKay/Sheppard) -- helenish writes these amazing tributes to other stories that, um, could never possibly be taken the wrong way.
-- All I Ever Needed by helenish (Popslash, Justin/Lance) -- They're compliments. Really.
-- Filthy Mind by rivkat (Supernatural, very dubious consent) -- It seems a little unfair that such a deep comment on fandom and the X Made Them Do It trope should be so hot.
